Crystal McStolly Pricing and Info

We use the newer Articles 2028 and 2058 along with the vintage 2000 (often the 2000 has more selection in 40ss and 48ss).  To the best of our knowledge they are all high-quality lead glass (as are most "crystals").  Your collar will likely have a mix of the different articles.  These are not to be played with by children.

Base Price for 1” Single Leather is $25 (10-14), $30 (14-18), $35 (18-22), $40 (22-26) and $45 (26-30).

Add $2.50 for 1.25” width

Add $5 for 1.5” width

Add $7.5 for 1.5" tapered to 1" width

Add $7.5 0for 1.75” width

Add $10 for 2” tapered to 1.5” width at buckle (usually center-bar, brass or silver color).

Once you have your base price and sizing proceed as follows:

1.) First, we need to determine the square inches of decorative space. Take the smallest hole and subtract 1” to give room for the buckle bar so it doesn't hit the decorations (Usually this is the exact neck size minus 2 inches, since there is one smaller hole. It also accounts for the taper if any.). Then subtract 3.5” for 1” buckles and 4” for all others.

After getting the length we multiply the decorative length by the width (the full width, not the taper). This will give us how many square inches of decorative space we have to work with.

Example: Dog's neck is exactly 18”. We want a 2 inch tapered to 1.5” collar. 18” - 2” - 4” = 12” of decorative length. 12” x 2”of width = 24 square inches of decorative space.

2.) Determine if you want solid crystals or a mix of spots (domes, pyramids, etc.) and crystals. For all crystal multiply the square inches determined in step one by $8. For a mix multiply by $6.

Example: For all crystal our collar would be the base price of $35 plus $192, or $227 total. For a mix it would be $35 plus $144 or $179 total.

3.) Do you want bordering? It is only available on 1.5” or wider. For an all crystal, the price is the same as calculated above. The savings in crystals is offset by the labor of bordering with small spots (usually $30 or $40 additional). Separately calculated they come out fairly close in price for the most part. This just saves on confusion.

For a mix, just add $10 to the price calculated above to cover the extra labor of the bordering (bordering is very labor intensive).

4.) Suede lining? $5 extra.

Base Price for 1.25” Double Leather is $40 (14-18), $45 (18-22), $50 (22-26), $55 (26-30).

Add $2.50 for 1.5” width

Add $5 for 1.75” width

Add $10 for 2” tapered to 1.5” width at buckle (usually center-bar, brass or silver color).

Instructions are the same as for a single leather collar with a few additional points. You are calculating the square inches of the top-strip. 1.25” wide collars will have a 1” wide top-strip. 1.5” width can either be 1” or 1.25”. 1.75” wide can be 1.5” or 1.25”. 2” can be 1.75” or 1.5”. Take these widths into account when you decide. Bordering will require the smaller of the two options. No bordering on 1.25” double layer collars.  ALSO BORDERING IS THE FULL ADDITIONAL $30 ($40 FOR 24+" NECKS).  YOU AREN'T COMPROMSING DECORATIVE SPACE WITH DOUBLE-LAYERS WHEN BORDERING.

Please note, the 2nd d-ring does take up about 1” to 1.5” of space on the top-strip. The price is the same. It's pretty much a wash in price by the time you figure the price of a solid brass d-ring or stainless-steel d-ring with the attending rivets. If you don't want the 2nd d-ring, let us know (price is the same, but we need to know).

You can, of course, price out the crystals at various sites. These collars are expensive, so please keep in mind these following points. We buy by the gross or more. Each new color we buy, we buy a full gross at least (72 for the absolute biggest, 48ss). This is a substantial overhead. We buy the rings and backing discs and we hand-set them with very expensive and discontinued pliers. Each size has its on set of pliers. Hand-setting is VERY labor-intensive. So, you are paying for labor as well as the price of the crystals and metal findings. The manufacturer of the rings also sells set Swarovski's (other makers usually buy them like that). However, their in-stock selection is limited in color and does not include the 20ss (1/4”) size. To have them custom make, they require a minimum one gross order. Our costs would be more if we did that. Plus, if we can find a color, we can buy it.

NOTE: WE CAN ONLY SET 20SS, 34SS, 40SS, AND 48SS CRYSTALS. WE CAN SET 25-MM (1”) AS WELL FOR REALLY CUSTOMS JOBS (BUT THOSE ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE CRYSTALS, AS YOU CAN SEE IF YOU PRICE THEM).  FOR SPECIAL REQUESTS IT MAY COST MORE.  FOR EXAMPLE, 48SS STONES ARE HARD TO FIND AND VERY EXPENSIVE.  IF YOU WANTED ALL 48SS THE COST MAY BE MORE.
